Hi,

I have this crackling sound in my left ear. The crackling noise sounds like someone walking on thick snow. For those of you who live in colder climates, you know what I mean. The crackling noise happens when I:

Breathe deeply with my mouth closed.
Blow my nose (when I block my nose, the crackling sound is even more apparent).
When I hiccup.

Some times the crackling happens without any movement in my nasal or throat passages. I have had this problem off-and-on for the past year. Do you know of any causes for this problem? I am stumped.
