| something other than mono?
I've had a sore throat for the last 3 weeks. It's a constant pain, that is worse when i swallow. It isn't in my tonsils though, it's lower in my neck...on the right side of my adam's apple, sometimes radiating to my right ear. There has been a change in my voice lately, although it's hard to explain. It's not really hoarse...just a bit deeper and sometimes it cracks. I do not have a fever, but i do seem to have less energy. I went to the doctor last week and they tested for strep and mono. They also did an ultrasound. The monospot test came back positive for EBV antibodies, although this could be a false positive because i also have arthritis, which can show the same results. I'm 40 yrs old and have not kissed anyone other than my wife for 10 yrs, and do not eat or drink after anyone either. I guess my question is, could this be something other than mono? I really dont feel that sick. I still golf twice a week and have not changed my lifestyle much. Other than the pain in my throat and a little fatigue, i feel ok. The doctor said most people have a fever with mono, but my temp is below 98.6.
Any input would be helpful.
