Thumbs down serious ear problems new member seeking help

I have been to the doctors 3x for this, and was curious if anyone else has come across the same thing. I am also going to the dr again for the swelling of it today., but would like to find out what is causing it before hand if possible. My whole right side of my face is swollen, to my eye, and cheek, along with my neck, from my ear, which hurts really bad. I havent gotten anything in my ear, the doc thinks its a ear infection, but ive been on antibiotics 3x and nothings helped. so I was curious what they might do after for it, esp since I have severe hearing loss on that side, and ringing in the ears., so that ear is really sensitive. any ideas and help would be appreciated.

Re: serious ear problems new member seeking help

I went to the dr, they gave me another set of antibiotics to last 21 days, along with ear drops. The doc said she would refer me to a specialist if the medications didnt help. any other insight as to what this might be from other members? It would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I forgot to mention the dr said it was a bad bad ear infection, was curious about other possibilities, since I just go to a walk in clinic and would like to know from those that have been to specialists, or regular family doctors.

I find it hard to believe that you've been on antibiotics 3 separate times with no relief. did you finish all of the meds? If so, it's hard to believe you've been put on antibiotics AGAIN. Is the prescription changing to a stronger med? You need to get a referral to a specialist--most likely ENT. Be persistent.

sounds like water in ears has caused fungus in the ear. Your ENT can vaccuum out your ears and put a purple soultion in them (same thing for baby's umbilical cord) and prescribe PRam Otic ear drops. I have the problem often and use swimmers ear to help prevent it. I hope this helps.
