Tonsils removed at 60

How dangerous is having your tonsils removed if your 60? I have tonsil stones that drive me crazy. The doc said they have to really watch you in case you hemorrage after surgery. Thanks for any help on the subject.

Re: Tonsils removed at 60

There is possible bleeding complications with any surgery so docs always forewarn that. I know that from what many people say here and say in real life that I know , there is complication when the scabs fall off and the surgery area is still raw. Perhaps when food goes down it scrapes that area and bleeds. But they say it's rare. Then again they say 2-3% of the population has tonsil stones and it seems like that number is more like 95-98%..sheesh. But yeah they do say the older one is the more complicated/painful the recovery is. But again that's probably like any surgery, kids are so much more freakin tough than adults then we give them credit for at some things.
