Question Ears and Headaches

My fiance has had a problem with his ear for about 7 months now. The GP thinks it's Tinnitus and has referred him to a specialist. We have been waiting all this time for the appointment which has just come through for June 2nd. Although he has all the symptons of Tinnitus, he has also been getting headaches (of sort) for the past couple of months, almost daily. The GP said that it's unrelated to the Tinnitus. His blood pressure is fine, he's eyes are ok etc. He finds it very hard to explain what it feels like but it's something along these lines.. He feels like there's a pressure on the right side of his head and in his ear, like his head feels full, often fogginess, feels like a million things are going on..he thinks on doing one thing, then lots of other things come into his head that he wants to do. He sort of feels spaced out too. All this makes him irratated and impatient.
We're both worried as to what is going on and I know it's only another week til the app, but as I found these boards yesterday, I thought I may as well ask to see if anyone else has experienced any of these symptons with their ear probs. He says it's very difficult to try and explain how this is.
His ear probs started after he had a ear infection, blocked ears and then having them syringed.
Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Ears and Headaches

the ear thing i may not have experienced.. on the other hand i have suffered from headaches and migraines of all kinds since i was 7. i've had a headache where it's concentrated to one side, my ears hurt and ache.. and almost all the time with my headaches i feel very lost, foggy and confused. i had suffered this and other types of headaches weekly if not daily up until last year. i don't know if this could help your husband at all for his headaches. since your doc believes that the ears and headaches are unrelated, ask about anti-seizure medicines. i did this for 4 months, and since then, safe a few times i have not really had any headaches. the only kinds i get now are caused by my TMJ which isn't my head, more so my jaw, as well as being sick for so long, it tends to run me down and then a minor headache occurs. but i don't get headaches otherwise and i would say that my headaches have gone down 95% in pain and occurence (i'm not at all exxagerating). i haven't even had a migraine.. i wouldn't say this is a miracle drug entirely, but for me this is what cured my problem. i haven't had to go back on this medication since. i was able to ween myself off of it without a relasp. check into this.. i can't remember the name of my medication.. although i'm sure if he were to be prescribed it, that there's a general type they use for this problem.
if i'm totally off the mark on this one i'm sorry! just thought i could try and pass that on. i don't think many know about anti-seizure meds to treat headache/migraine problems.

Re: Ears and Headaches

Although your post may not have relevance to what my partner is experiencing, it was of great interest for me to read. I too have been experiencing headaches/migraines for years, and also been on pain meds in all that time because of it. I shall definately look into this more and maybe even approch my doc about it, though he's not very sympathetic towards this, but who knows!

Thanks.

Re: Ears and Headaches

it's worth a shot. to be very honest, i didn't think it'd work so i don't think it was a placebo affect either. i thought that nothing in the world could cure my headaches and migraines since i had had them for so long.. more than half of my life :\ imitrex worked to get rid of it but then i'd feel like i had taken some hard drugs and it'd be be bck in a few days. this stuff is harmless. i had been prescribed everything under the sun for mine.. i even had brain scans, blood work and all that crap done up... it wasn't fun in the least. in the end i found out i had some brain damage but that wasn't relevent to my problem. i had gone to a neurologist who first prescribed me 3 or 4 different migraine stoppers and then some pill for the lesser painful headaches.. which i didn't like because i was always on something.. then since that didn't work he tried this. although, he was a jerk and also said he never wanted to see me again and to this day i don't know why lol. my doctor even thought he was a bit accentric there but oh well. he cured the headache problems only thing left are the stress headaches which i bring on myself. although, because of that, i've become more happy over all and life seems to be easier with the new attitude change which helps as well to illiminate my stress headaches. i even went a good 4 or more months without a single headache! that was amazing for me.. i couldn't go 4 days without one before
