I have alot of medical issues (Fibromyalgia, cervical disk problems, and possible Lupus) and I have no idea if this is related or what..

Every now and then, I get what feels like someone jabbing something really sharp into my left ear. OMG it hurts like HELL! It comes out of nowhere and will stop me dead in my tracks. It's gone just as quickly as it comes. Thankfully, it doesn't happen very often.. maybe once a week at most. I've only mentioned this to two of my doctors, my general practioner and my pain management specialist/neurologist.. and neither of them seem to have a clue. They've both looked into my ear and said that everything looks normal.

Anyone else get this or am I a total weirdo? (wait, don't answer that LOL)

I know what you mean. I have the stabing pain too. I tell the doc. They just blow it off. Just like my tonsil stones. They just blow it off. Who wants to go around with stabing pains in ears and nasty white stones in throat. I hate it when they say "I don't know".If I find out I will post you.

OUCH! I didn't know that tonsils can get stones! Wow, I guess I am lucky that I had to get mine out at 5 yrs old. For some reason, mine had grown so large that I had very little room to swallow and I kept getting infections over and over. I didn't have much of a choice.. but stones? Ouch, I'm sorry!

You know, I hate to say this and I really don't mean this to sound the way it does, but I'm REALLY glad that someone else has had this and knows exactly what I'm talking about!!!!!!!! It lets me know that I'm not crazy.. well, I mean, at least when it comes to this lol

I had the pain again this morning. Just once though. I hate it sooo much!

It always makes me yell "OW!" and grab my ear every time it happens.. which is extremely embarrassing when I'm in the middle of a conversation with someone who has no idea about me getting this pain. I remember the first time it happened last year, I was talking to my hubby and all of a sudden, I got this extreme stabbing pain and I yelled "OOOWWWW!!! WHAT THE *F* WAS THAT?!?!?!?!". My hubby thought I had gone crazy for a minute there. Now it just ticks me off when it happens and interrupts me the way it does.

I can't even find anything online about it.. have you? Everything online seems to point to an ear infection, but it's nothing like that at all. Just a quick in and out ice pick to the ear type of sensation.

And it's really annoying when your docs have no clue what you're talking about and look at you as if you've lost your mind.

Hello again, Try looking up dizzy lounge message board. It has a lot of information on ear problems. It is hard to find answers concerning ears. There are a lot of symtoms that are linked to several different ailments. I will keep in touch.

Most likely the ear pain is due to water in your ears. i have the problem frequently and often have to have the ENT doctor vaccuum my ears and give me prammotic ear drops. I hope this is helpful. Swimmers ear solution helps eliminate the water before it gets too bad.
