Question Ear Pressure, Hearing Loss..Need Suggestions.

I just got back from a trip up in the mountains...My ear stopped up once, and it popped and went back to normal. On the way back home, coming down from the mt., my ear stopped up. Its been this way for 6-7 hours...Its stopped up, I can't hear good, and its like a dull roar in my ear. A little pain has come with this, like a throbbing or something...Not SEVERE pain, but enough to hurt. I have been suffering from some sinus/allergies stuff, not an infection, just the typical runny nose, sore throat, etc...I thought that this might have contributed to my plugged up ear, but I assumed that it was due to the change in air pressure. I've tried chewing gum, yawning, swallowing, and the Valsalva maneuver..NOTHING seems to work. I don't want to go to the doctor, unless absolutely necessary..I just want my ear to pop, so I can hear again, lol...

Does anyone have any suggestions???? Help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

Re: Ear Pressure, Hearing Loss..Need Suggestions.

I live at a high altitude. Sometimes just a local trip causes my ears to pop. Often when my allergies/sinuses are acting up my ears won't pop--no matter what I do. Typically if I just ride it out the pressure will equalize within a couple days. It isn't comfortable, but usually unless there are signs of an infection there isn't much the doctor can do since I am already on a lot of allergy medication. If my ears are still bothering me after several days, I will usually go in to the doctor to make sure I don't have a recurring sinus infection.

I hope you feel better soon.
