Does Tonsil tissue grow back, or has anyone had a second tonsillectomy?

I still have tonsil tissue froma tonsillectomy I had done many years ago, and I think the remaining tissue has gotten bigger? Has anyone had a second operation to remove tonsil tissue?

I have heard of tonsil tissue regrowth due to incomplete removal of the tonsils the first time, but I have never heard of the need for a second Tonsillectomy. When tonsil tissue begins to regrow.. it never reaches the same size and definition of the original tonsils, but anything is possible.. No?

I have PND as well. What did you do about it?

My doctor suggested surgery to correct my deviated septum to stop the PND and, at the same time, scraped off the tonsil tissue that was growing. I haven't had any problem with either since (10+ years)

Re: Does Tonsil tissue grow back, or has anyone had a second tonsillectomy?

Yes, I had my tonsils removed 17 years ago and went to my ENT in September and he confirmed that I had tonsil regrowth. He called it lymphatic tissue growing back. He said that he rarely removes this growth. He will only do it if it causes the patient serious problems. He explained that when getting your tonsils removed it is possible to leave a cell or two behind. This is all that is needed for the regrowth. Strange!
