| Re: Weird sound in ears ... occasional pain
cath1024, For the past 3 months or so i have had this stabbing pain deep inside my left ear ... it goes and comes and when it comes i can realy only feel it if i turn my head fully to the right but when i bring my head back straight the stabbing shooting painstops but i can still feel a light ach inside.
I have had this before as a side effect of swollen lymph nodes pinching my Eustacion tubes and a nerve bundle in the same area. My lymph nodes were agitated by a sinus infection/inner ear infection. Now the past week to add to this i have this weird sound inside my head/ear ... mostly when i lye down and when its quiet i can hear this muffled constant sound ... its a sound like when you yawn and everything sounds kind of distant ... i am finding it hard to explain the sound.
Also when if i shake my head back and forth from side to side i can hear something that sounds almost like fluid or somehting moving ... im afraid this could be somehting bad and im starting to have some anxiety over it being cancer or something ... i seem to always diaganose myself with some kind of cancer.
This sounds like ear fluid in the inner ear. Not dangerous, just annoying, and likely to become infected if it doesn't dry up. You may alreay have a sinus infection or ear infection. Try sudafed to help dry up the fluid (sudafed substitutes have one-third the effective metabolic absorption so they only work at 33% the rate of sudafed) and an anti-histamine which will act as a fluid production inhibitor and anti-inflamatory. Claritin-D is a good combination to try in conjunction with the inhaler and sinus sprays. Also rinse you sinuses with a saline nasal spray like Simply Saline (I have found the dispensing mechanism to be the best on this brand).
Seeing the ENT again is a good idea, yours will get you straightened out.
Sincerely,
MG
