Unhappy Persistent Symptoms of tonsillitis

Hi, I have been suffering from a sore, red throat for around 7 months now! The problem is regarding my tonsils. They are red and swollen and appear to have what my Gp calls them Crypts which are filled with white & yellow infection (puss in other words!) yuk!

At times the infection within the Crypts, bursts! Then they re-appear again rapidly!

Well anyway I have been told that they are the symptoms one gets when they have Tonsallitis yet I was told today by a different Gp that there is no such thing as Chronic tonsallitis and has asked for me to have blood tests taken. I have been told that usual ulcers in the mouth should heal within three (3) weeks. I have tried gargling salt water, diluted TCP solution and anti-septic mouth wash yet NOTHING works!

They just WONT budge!

Has anybody else out there had anying similar happen to them, I'd appreciate any information, Thanks all!

Re: Persistant Symptoms of Tonsaillitos

Dealt with this for years. GP told me it was food particles stuck back there. Finally went to an ENT, told him I've tried gargling with salt water, extracted those nasty things myself and was tired of it. He told me the only way to get rid of them was to have my tonsils removed and proceeded to tell me about the recovery process. I opted to have them removed. He told my husband that one side of my tonsils was sooo, soo deeply infected he ended up removing a golf ball sized amount of that nasty stuff. Bleah! No amount of antibiotics would have gotten rid of the infection, so it was a good idea that I'd gotten them removed. Just wish I'd been brave enough to do it a lot sooner.
