Ear infections and sinus infections are extremely difficult to transmit and the incubation time if such occured would be longer than a few days to a week. You and your mother share DNA and as a result probably share similar sinus structure and irritant/allergy triggers.
I would bet that your ear aches are spawning from the pollen overload right now. Extremely heavy pollen can affect those that do not have allergies if the levels are like they have been in my town.. 81 times the hazardous limit. See if an anti-histamine decongestant combination helps clear things up. It is not an inner ear infection unless you are running a decent fever. Outer ear infections can be told by an extremely painful outer ear and a localized fever and redness at the ear alone.
