For ages now, years rather than months, I have had a nearly constant sore throat, alongside other health problems. My throat doesn't look TOO bad, just a couple of small lumps on my left tonsil and red spots at the back of the throat but the pain is wearing when it doesn't go isn't it?!! I have had quite a few courses of antibiotics (I have seizures when I get an infection) and they help for a short while but not long.
Anyone got any ideas? Or suggestions to relieve the pain - I have strepsils, soluble paracetamol, honey and lemon, drink lots of water but they don't do much.
An ENT is your best bet. The symptoms you discrib bring three main conditions to mind.
1) Look into Gerd and LPR. These are acid reflux diseases that can cause your symptoms.
2) Also look into allergies in paarticular.. allergic PND (Post Nasal Drip). Another common culprite with chronic sore throats.
3) The last to check into would be chronic tonsilitus.
All will be visible and diagnosable by a good ENT or GI doctor. You might want to get on the list for visitin a Gastrointestinal specialist(GI), just in case you can get in to see one of them earlier. I know how frustrating and long waiting can be on the English national health care system.
SIncerely,
MG

hi there does it have any effect on your ears? i have throat trouble with spots at back of throat and on roof of mouth but my ears mainly right one often feel uncomfortable kinda blocked and sometimes my neck will be uncomfortable when i swallow.
I have had a constant sore throat everyday now for over a year, and have been to countless specialists. After way too many blood tests and other tests, they figured out I was highly allergic to dairy products. I quit eating dairy products, and now my throat isn't as bad, but still hurts most of the time. I guess I just have bad luck
