I had some surgery done on Feb 20th, both were supposed to be "simple
& routine" procedures as far as I was told by 3 ENTS.
The first was a tonsillectomy to remove my tonsils ( one was always
swollen and the other one would act up on any infection), second was a
submucous resection of the IT to relieve me of my chronic congestion.
It was sort of a tag on as I was already going under for the tonsils
and he could take care of both.
Again I was under the impression that these were relatively simple
procedures and complications would be minor . . .
Well, here I'm well over 2 months after the operation and I'm still not
getting better in 2 areas, first it seems like my nose is allowing
more air than I'm used to and this is drying up the back part of my
throat and causing some Post Nasal Drip ( I never had this before )
and second my breathing has improved but it does not feel normal yet
( if I get wind blowing in my face it sort of chokes me, and cold air
hits me immediately ) - Also not sure which causes this but my voice
becomes sticky and throat gets somewhat sore if I talk for too long,
like if I need water every 10 minutes of talking (I'm well hydrated)
I need some input on anyone that has had either of these surgeries, to
let me know how long it took some of you to FULLY heal and if you had
these same symptoms ??
I don't want to panic but I'm beginning to get concerned as these were
supposed to improve my life not hinder it ??
Plus knowing that turbinate tissue does not grow back kind of scares
me to think I'll have this throat issue for life now, this was not on
the "possible risks papers" I signed !
Please post your healing experiences and ways I can help myself, I'm
trying to stay positive but at this point I wish I had not gone under
