| Holes THROUGH tonsils
Hi all,
I'm new here. I'm looking for some answers and advice around the internet and this forum looks quite promising to me. I hope someone here can help.
A few days ago my brother (17 years) started to have fever which lasted only about 3 days and then he was fine. What followed was pain in the mouth and throat area. At first we thought it's wisdom tooth growing, but he continued to complain about extreme pain. Knowing that my brother is usually a tough guy who has rather high threshold for pain, I decided to help him take a look inside his mouth.
I was shocked to find holes THROUGH the tonsils on both sides. this holes are SEE-THROUGH holes. and not like many of those described as "pits" or "crypts" with white stuff "ozing" or exudating. I can clearly see at least 3 holes on each side about 1mm to 1.5mm diameter. There are no obvious signs of swelling and no foreign fluids discharge.
sensation is pain, fatigue, stiffness in the jaw throat area. besides the fever, he also developed some ulcers on the lips and gum area.
Is this normal tonsilitis?
