Please Help! Ear Problems!

I woke up this morning my ears felt completely blocked. I'm crying and upset because I can barely hear. Sounds are a bit muffled. I tried cleaning out my ears for ear wax, very little came out, but it feels like it's either water inside my ear that refuses to come out, orther is some kind of pressure build up in my ear. I went to the hospital the doctor cleaned out my ears very little ear wax came out.I don't know what else to do. My ears still feel blocked. I don't know if I have an infection or not because the doctor at the hospital didn't say. I tried everything I could do ear drops etc...my ears still feel blocked. I was able to hear a little better yesterday and I had a headahe because of it, but now I can barely hear. Can anyone help?

Re: Please Help! Ear Problems!

Did you have any pain when you woke up along with the blockage? If so it probably was an ear infection(Otitis Media). Did you have a sore throat or anything of that sort in the days previous to waking up with your ears blocked? You could also have a build up of fluid with no infection which would cause a feeling of fullness and muffled hearing. Also try opening your Eustachian tubes by plugging your nose and mouth and breathing out to force air in your ear, but don't use too much force.

I had a sore throat about 4 weeks ago and one day I just woke up about 3 weeks ago with pain and a blocked right ear only. I went to the doctor who said it was a bad ear infection and he prescribed some antibiotics (Vantin). The pain went away the next day, but the blockage continued for about 10 days, it always seemed worse in the morning or after I would lay down for a while. You just have to wait until the fluid drains from your ear which can take weeks to completly do so. But you should definetly go see your doctor or an ENT specialist and insist they tell you what is going on.

Re: Please Help! Ear Problems!

Whatever you do, go easy on your ears. They are delicate organs and the littlest thing you do can damage them severely and permanently. Never stick anything in your ear other than superficially, or you run the risk of very serious damage.
