| Re: Please Help! Ear Problems!
Did you have any pain when you woke up along with the blockage? If so it probably was an ear infection(Otitis Media). Did you have a sore throat or anything of that sort in the days previous to waking up with your ears blocked? You could also have a build up of fluid with no infection which would cause a feeling of fullness and muffled hearing. Also try opening your Eustachian tubes by plugging your nose and mouth and breathing out to force air in your ear, but don't use too much force.
I had a sore throat about 4 weeks ago and one day I just woke up about 3 weeks ago with pain and a blocked right ear only. I went to the doctor who said it was a bad ear infection and he prescribed some antibiotics (Vantin). The pain went away the next day, but the blockage continued for about 10 days, it always seemed worse in the morning or after I would lay down for a while. You just have to wait until the fluid drains from your ear which can take weeks to completly do so. But you should definetly go see your doctor or an ENT specialist and insist they tell you what is going on.
