Kissing Tonsils

Hi There. My Son Is 3 And A Half Year Old After Illness In April Now He Feels Ok In Everything. Only When He Sleeps He Seems To Snore. I Took Him To His Doctor And She Said He Has Almost Kissing Tonsils(enlarged, swollen, Nearly Touching Each Other). We Have To Follow Him To Know If They Will Stay Like This Or Return To Normal Size. If They Dont Maybe They Should Be Removed. We Should See A Specialist. Please Can Someone Help Me And Tell Me If They Had Similar Problems. Is It Possible For Tonsils To Return To Normal Size And After How Many Months. How Much Do I Have To Wait. I Am Worried And I Dont Know What To Do. Please Can Anyone Answer Me With Similar Case.thanks For Replying

Re: Kissing Tonsils

Dear Rosa,

Hi, Im 27 years old, and had my tonisellectomy on July 3. I had "kissing tonsills". For the past four or five years, I have had constant problems with them via soar throats to strep to constant laryngitis. Until my tonsils stayed swollen to the point they were touching in the back. It was very uncomfortable.....not alot of room to breathe or swallow, so the slightest cold could send me into a tizzy!
My tonsillectomy has not been a walk in the park, but I can already tell a huge difference on being able to breathe and not snore, only days after my surgery.
I do not have kids of my own, but I work with kids all the time. They are resilliant little creatures, and I have always heard that the little ones handle tonsillectomys a whole lot better than adults. So my advice would to be go ahead and take his tonsils out. Because with my expereience, it only got worse, never better!
Hope this helps you out in some way!

Re: Kissing Tonsils

hi sweetie and thanks for taking time to reply
my son is not having problems for the time being. i know that later on if he has problems we have to go to surgery.but till now he is eating well,a little snoring at night 10% only.he is breathing well.no sickness at all, no strep,no sore throat.everything is ok. as tonsils are important in his age, they catch viruses. it is better if they are kept. when he will be six or seven years old, they will not be so important and they can be removed.so what i am asking,if i have to worry now or it can wait for 2 or 3 years.
thanks for replying again.
