| Re: my 6 year old id in pain
His ears are bothering him due to swelling. At the age of six, steriods is really not an option.
1) Did the ENT give you a script for Oticaine ear drops? These were liquid gold for my 3.5 year old and me as well. It is a lydocaine based ear drop that numbs the ear canal.
2) Also use heating pad on the lowest setting for his ears. Let him roll his head from one side to the other on it.
3) Next if you haven't been using saline nasal sprays get some use it a minimum of four times a day to keep the wound sites from drying out. Simply saline (WITH OUT THE DECONGESTANT) worked best for us.
In addition keep him on motrin maximum dosage allowable. Give it to him by the clock. set timers if need be.
Best of luck. I have been there, as has my son. So I can see it from both sides.. the parent and the patient.
Sincerely,
MG
