Hello. I'm not sure this is the right place to post, but I'll give it a shot.
I had gallbladder surgery the other day and during the surgery they had me on a breathing tube on a breathing machine. Ever since, my throat has been in unbearable pain! Worse than the pain from the surgery! The tube was in my throat for a while after surgery was done, because they had a hard time waking me up and gettin me to breathe on my own. is this throat irritation normal?
Yes, the irritation is very normal, I had that tube in me for almost 10 days of which 4 were in the ICU and I was out of it so didn't realize it was in there. Anyway, it will take a few days to go away,...feel better!
I had surgery with the tube in for about 10 hours and it took me at least 4 weeks to be able to swallow properly, but I didn't have pain. My voice now at 5 weeks just about sounds normal. I didn't think it would take that long to get back to normal. There was also a lot of mucous at the bottom of my throat, still is a bit there. Hope the pain stops for you soon.
