Ear Resonance...

Hello... I'm wondering if anyone can tell me anything about this...

I have this problem in my right ear. It seems like when there's a lot of noise, my ears begin to resonate with the sounds. (It sounds a lot like speakers that are turned out too loud so they sound distorted).

There's also a weird vibrating feeling in my ear...

I find that this happens a lot when I'm singing, and it'll resonate when I'm only talking!

Sometimes this happens more often than others... it's kinda unpredictable...

Anyway, if anyone has any clue as to what it is, or what I could do to fix it -- I'd be REALLY grateful!!!!!!!

its a muscle spasm, they spasm from sound, your own voice, or on thier own, look up middle ear myoclonus, stapedial myoclonus and tensor tympani syndrom, there are people talking about this on the hearing disorders board

Re: Ear Resonance...

Do your ears feel plugged or full? I am suffering with the same thing. I actually remember when my left ear plugged up. I thought it was wax. Finally went to the Dr and they cleaned them out and put me on allergy meds which did no good. After 2 months I saw an ENT who could find nothing. Then the audiologist did his thing and determined nothing was wrong with my hearing. He referred me to an Oral Surgeon who I will see Oct 29. I have suffered now for 4 months. He suspects TMJ. I do have all the symptoms. Do you have any neck and shoulder pain? Headaches, teeth or jaw pain, tingling in hands and fingers? If so it could be TMJ. If not, it could be a Eustation Tube disfunction. It is best to see your ENT. My ears feel plugged but I can hear people speak fine but when I speak or eat the sound is muffled and amplified like I have my fingers in my ears. I also notice when I bring my teeth together. It sounds like I have a microphone up to them. It is so annoying and dibilitating. I have no energy. Being around a lot of people and or loud music really bothers my hearing. Also when I talk I feel a vibration in my head. Not pleasant? What I understand is if it is TMJ the jaw bone can push up into the ear canal causing sound and hearing changes. I hope you find the problem and get it corrected. I will note that for the first 2 months I had no symptoms other than the muffled hearing. Then at 2 months I started having neckaches and backaches and eventually I did start having pain in my jaw.
