Questions

Hi all,

I've been having chronic infections on the right side of my throat and sinus. I get it a few times a year. A CT scan showed nothing wrong. The fix is usually antibiotics. Last year this time I had a hard time getting it to clear and was on 3 rounds of antibiotics. This time the ENT cultured my throat and found the bacteria to be staph. They told me Staph is very common and to take Levaquin for10 days. The Levaquin is working but not completely. I can still feel my throat hurting and the sinus burns. I only have 3 doeses left. I called them about it but they insist I finish this out. Anyway, I've asked them why I keep getting the infection on the right and all they could tell me was that the anatomy of the area is the problem. The thing is I still don't get why I'm getting these infections. I'm very cautious about cleaning my hands, I don't have allergies. I do do a lot of cleaning and sometimes if I forget to wear my cleaning mask I end up with an infection. I'm not sure if the cleaning products are irritating my nose and therefore causing my sinsus to be suceptible to infection or what but regardless it is driving me crazy! Another thing is I was on Nasonex for almost a year doing pretty well until my nose started to bleed. I stopped it and my nose doestn't bleed anymore but I'm wondering if I should go back to it because maybe it does help me. I don't have any allergies. I read that Nasonex can lower your ability to fight infection so it doesn't make sense to me to take it if I am prone to these infections.

does anyone else out there get chronic Staph infections of the nose/throat? My symptoms are not typical of a full blown sinus infection. I get a sore throat and burning sinus pain on the right. Also, is Nasonex good to use when you have an infection?

Thanks for any help.
