Rhinoplasty?

Hi I think I need to have surgery on my nose but I don't have insurance for it. How can I get insurance to get rhinoplasty, I don't have a job right now. I know that insurances don't cover it unless it affects your health, I believe mine is giving me headaches. Any suggestions?

Re: Rhinoplasty?

Almost all insurance policies will cover a rhinoplasty if it's medically necessary, such as the headaches you describe, breathing problems, drainage, & etc.

However, no insurance policy will permit you to purchase a policy just to get a procedure (nose job or otherwise). It's called "buying a claim." Just like you can't purchase life insurance if you know you're about to die. If you purchase a policy out right, there is typically a "Pre-existing clause" which means they won't cover any medical condition you have before purchasing the policy. However, most policies have a "waiting period" (6, 9, or 12 mths) then they'll pay for most things....Unless of course you list the condition on your application, then it may be considered "pre-existing."

Finally, if you obtain a job that provides health insurance, there is usually no waiting period and no pre-existing condition clause.

Good luck.
