It all started 3 months ago when i experienced some headaches, that lasted around 3 weeks and went away. Somewhere during that also pressure in ears started, but problem is that this didnt go away. After 3 months i still feel pressure in my ears and its annoying me more and more, it never ends. Im pushing out pressure all day long now with different methods, but it never ends.
First i went to see neurologist, we did a brain CT scan and all was fine.
Then i went to ENT and he said all is fine with my ears, did some hearing tests aswell and all seemed okay. He gave me some drops for nose but that didnt help at all. I went back to my doctor last week asking him what to do now and he sent me to Synus scan - i am expecting results this week, however im not sure this is the case.
I really dont know what else to do and how to make this go away, im alredy starting to believe this will never go away If anyone had similar problems and knows the solution for it, please help.
Have you considered it could be TMJ? TMJ causes many of the symptoms you are talking about. Maybe you are clenching your mouth or grinding at night. Your facial muscles can spasm which in turn causes the clogged ear feeling, headaches, pain, etc. Also how much stress have you been under? Stress can cause our muscles to tighten even when we don't realize it. It could be that you are holding that stress in your face, jaw, and neck which creates the symptoms you are having.
I can see stress being big part of that as i was under alot of stress in the job just before headaches started. However i dont feel pain in the ears or muscles as TMJ describes, i only have this constand ear pressure and because of that i open my mouth all the time to pop and let the pressure out.
What are treatments for this?
Try a few simple exercises to see if that helps. Tilt your head to the side - ear over shoulder, hold for a few seconds and come back up. Repeat on the other side. Look to the right, hold, come back to center. Repeat on the other side. Slowly raise your arms over head and then roll down, letting arms hang and eyes looking at the knees, roll back up. Do this slowly and without strain.
TMJ can present as just fullness in the ear and without pain. I have it a great deal. The most important thing is to not get too hung up in it. I would stop trying to pop them. That probably leads to more muscle tension and therfore more pressure in the ears. You can also try warm compresses - heat a washcloth in the microwave or get a moist heating pad sold in drug stores. Really, try not to let it upset you too much or you will find yourself going round and round and going to one more doctor. Try to let go of the worry and concentrating on it too much and see if that helps. Just say - yes, there it is again but I am not going to worry about it, just let it be. Sounds weird I know, but it really helps. Actually helps more than anything else!!!
Thanks for you answers. I will definitly try the exercises you described. I am also wondering if this is just a temporary solution or can these excercises help me loose the pressure permanently.
Is there any treatment at all for this kind of problems?
