I sympathise with you! I have been getting tonsil stones for years - mostly small. But recently I have had a massive one just tucked away in a crevice which became huge. It drove it crazy! I tried everything to dislodge it, but there was no way I could use my fingers as it was in a place where I couldn't reach. Also my gag reflex is strong so made it nearly impossible. I finally coughed it out but by then it was massive and had lasted 3 months. Unfortunately I now have another growing in exactly the same place and expect the same problems.
I tried to dislodge one by gargling and coughing really hard for an hour and I think it put such a strain on my eyes/face that I now have a subsequently problem posterior vitreous detachment (PVD), which I'm sure I caused myself.
I'm using nose sprays for nasal drip as I heard this can cause them, and I'm gargling frequently. I know I can have my tonsils removed, but I just can't face it at the moment, but may have to if these carry on.
Strangely not one medical person I have spoken to has heard of these or has any information on them.
Did you manage to dislodge your stone?
