throat still sore months after intubation

I was intubated at the end of August as part of a surgery. I got a little unruley in recovery and think I may have pushed on something in my neck.

Here it is months later and I'm fine when I first get up in the mornings, but once I eat something or talk alot it feels like something tore in my throat.

I do a lot of speaking in loud public places so I have to raise my voice to be heard. I'm good for about 15 minutes of this.

Its not a sore throat, not caughing up anything. throat spray helps all but that area. It feels like the skin of a kernel of pop corn is wedged down there some times then SNAP...ouch!!! It almost feels like a tear. Is this possibly from the intubation? Its been like this, worse, and better, since my surgery.

Besides having a Dr check it out what can he/she do? Being quiet is not my thing.

Thank you in advance for any help/advice

Re: throat still sore months after intubation

OK I'll ask another way. Should I be worried about a sore throat that comes and goes with use and that has lasted longer than 8 weeks?

Thank you again, in advance for any possible advice.

Re: throat still sore months after intubation

It's certainly possible that the intubation irritated or caused abrasions on your throat, but that should have healed quite a while ago. You might want to see a doctor so he/she can check your throat.

Re: throat still sore months after intubation

FYI Dr says it is a intubation granuloma (callus on vocal chorads) comon in people who talk alot (I gues I fit that) and people intubated for long periods of time (weeks) but I was only intubated for 23 hours. Hmmmm

Treatment: round of steroids, and vocal theropy...Check in in two months, if its still there they will consider surgery to remove.

Thought it would be a good idea to post this JUST IN CASE its needed by somebody in the future
