| Would quickly-swelling turbinates cause this congestion?
I've been experiencing some sort of "congestion" at night. Just my right nostril tends to get a little stuffy... then, if I lie on my left side, the right nostril clears up within a minute or two.
I have always assumed that this was because of some slow-moving mucus migrating into the other side of the nasal cavity due to gravity, but my doctor insists that things look clear, and it's natural for your turbinates to have some light swelling when lying on one side like that. I'm a bit surprised that it would swell up and down that quickly though. On the other hand, I don't typically successfully blow it out either.
Some background: I had a septoplasty and turbinectomy recently, and things are looking great in terms of the septum and turbinates (several docs have looked in there).
