Swimmer's ear and hearing loss

I've been through a round of antibiotics and drops to clear up Swimmer's ear but still have fullness and blockage in the ear as well as hearing loss. Should I wait it out (11 days since onset) or go back to the doctor?

Re: Swimmer's ear and hearing loss

Hello Goddess, and welcome to the boards!

I would go back to the doctor, until this thing is totally resolved. Ear problems can be painful, and affect your balance, your hearing, and your overall health. Perhaps you need another medication...but whatever you do, stay out of the pool, and follow dr's orders, until you are well.

Best wishes...

Re: Swimmer's ear and hearing loss

I would at least call the doctor to let him/her know. I have had chronic fluid in my middle ear.. not really swimmers ear. I've gotten the most relief from acupuncture.

Have you thought of going to a chiropractor or a licensed massage therapist? Some times that will help get the fluid to drain. I know it will help it feel better.

good luck!

Re: Swimmer's ear and hearing loss

Thank you for responding. I did go back today and have a different regimen of treatment. If I remember, I'll let you know the result. Thanx again.
