Exclamation Chronic ear and head pressure with fatigue

For over a year now I have been waking up feeling disoriented and really fatigued. Even when Im resting my muscles feel as if I were still standing for a long period of time. I also all day feel constant pressure in my head and ears. I always try popping my ears and it does nothing. All day my ears are popping as if I was on a mountain. I feel as if Im in a HAZE all day long. I've tried Musinex DM for 2 months and been to a ENT Dr. and a Nerologist. I have hat a CT scan and an MRI which show nothing out of the normal. I have also had a hearing test which showed nothing wrong.(even though all day it feels like i have cotton or somthing stuffed in my ears. Does anyone have or have had these problems. An idea or diagnosis would really help me sleep a little better. I hope.
Tahnk you

Re: Chronic ear and head pressure with fatigue

You have described my symptoms to a tee!! Exactly!!! I just had a CT scan last week and all it showed was mild swelling in some of the sinus tissues. I was put on Predisone for 5 days. I was diagnosed with arthritis in the left jaw joint. But what I can't figure out why my ears and sinus are congested and that I am dizzy. Someone mentioned changes in barometric pressure like with cold weather. It is very cold where I am right now...do you think this could be it for us?

Re: Chronic ear and head pressure with fatigue

I live in Alabama and the weather is pretty mild and rarely ever to cold, but I never seem to feel better or worse do to weather conditions. My Neurologist said it could be depression!? He said many people have it without having a reason or the "boo-hoo's" as in being upset or really emotional. I have a pretty stressed life but never feel sad. Im going to try some meds next visit. Thanks for your imput and keep me updated. Thanks and hope we figure this stuff out.

Re: Chronic ear and head pressure with fatigue

I had all those problems following a month long cold, which turned into a sinus infection. They found that on the ct scan and gave me augmentin 875/125 for 21 days. I am on day 14 of antibiotics and starting to feel better. My eustacian tubes are still plugged, however I got rid of the pressure with motrin 800. The dizzy feeling is gone now. I hope you get a second opinion and get well!

Re: Chronic ear and head pressure with fatigue

I've had a stuffy ear for 10 months now. Can't get the thing to pop. I do have allergies and sinus problems and initially thought that may be the problem. I've been on antibiotics several times, steroids twice and changed up my allergy meds some as well. I had a CT scan of my sinuses a while back and it showed mild swelling. I'm treating the allergies and into 2 years of immunmotherapy now to help those. My allergies are better, but my ear isn't. In fact, the pressure is really bad some days and gives me intense ear pain that seems to have gotten worse lately. I've also had intermittent tinnitus also.

I'm open to anything at this point to figure this out. Here is where I'm at now. I started with my PCP, then went to an ENT. Next was two different Audiologists, then a dentist and a referral to a jaw specialist. My ear shows no infections. My sinuses aren't too bad. My eustatian tubes are OK. I have a 30% bone loss in my jaw. The main theory now is that I have a jaw disfunction related to bruxism and the jaw muscles are tight around my ear causing my problems. The jaw dentist gave me a relaxation cd, adjusted my mouth guard, told me to take a bunch of supplements and recommended PT. I had 8 sessions of PT and my muscles seemed to be relaxing some, but insurance approval ran out. That ended a couple weeks ago and I seem to be worse again. Last week, my ENT gave me some pain killers and muscle relaxers to try short term. He also gave me a different nasal spray to try for a couple weeks.

If you find any answers, please share. In the meantime, I'll do the same.

Take care,
MountainReader
