It could be your tonsils were trapping allergens, though they usually enter through the nose and bother it before even getting to tonsils. It could also be that in some parts of the country, this is the worst allergy season in living memory.
Do you know what you're allergic to? Perhaps you should check recent pollen counts for your area. If it continues and is significantly annoying, you can talk to an allergist to get tested and identify your allergies.
Meanwhile, wash your sheets in hot water, keep your windows closed, and keep kitty out of your bedroom.
At what time of day is it the worst? Does it seem to be indoor or outdoor?
