food stuck in esophagus

About 5 times the last year, maybe less, ive swallowed something only to have it get 'stuck' down my esophagus. after a few minutes, it makes its way to my stomach. all of the time, i get the sensation that i need to burp but when i try to, the food is there. so i swallow, then the additional air tries to make me burp again. endless cycle. sometimes i just force my self to expel the food out my mouth. the first time this happened for me was approx 7-10 years ago. sparatically since then.

any thoughts?

Im sure many on this board have had this condition. Im nervous that its serious and am affraid to goto a specialist.

Can someone offer some direction?

Hi! Your situation is mild. I started out that way and then the incidents started lasting longer and became harder to clear the stuck food. Check out MikeBoy's post in this forum. He's been even further down the line than me, but with similar tests and more. A possible conclusion that I've come to is that this is a 'lack of lubrication' problem that is caused by high blood pressure pills. When I started taking them 20+ years agao, that is when this problem started happening. Do you take them?
