Hi there. For some time now, the hearing in my left ear occasionally "distorts" and I hear a buzz like sound akin to that of a radioactive metal detector (best description). It started in 2008 when I was listening through my earphones. At first, I thought the problem was due to the earphones going bad, as it wasn't noticeably loud enough to make me think it was a physical problem. Now that i've gone to a few church concerts here and there was the problem apparent to me.
The condition is not constant; the distortion only occurs when i'm exposed to moderately loud sounds, like a hard laugh or normal church concert. I'm concerned, due to a fear that one day the level of sound tolerance might break down or something to a point where I can't laugh hard anymore or be with noisy friends (I'm 18 this June)
I've visited 3 ENT's and asked them about this. They all said it wasn't something to get worry about and couldn't find anything wrong with my audiometry and checkup.
I've read articles and searched symptoms similar to mine, and I found an article on "Tensor Tympani Syndrome" which relates to my symptoms pretty well. Any thoughts?
