Lots of people seem to have posted about this, but it has been a while. I had a tonsillectomy one week ago. I was pleasantly surprised that after the first day, the pain was quite manageable (thank you Vicodin).
My biggest concern is that the tip of my tongue is completely numb still

. I can tell that some of the feeling has returned since the surgery (initially the numbness went much further back on my tongue), however, I have no felling in the first 1/4-1/2 inch of my tongue. I have also lost the ability to taste sweetness in things like fruit (I still get sweetness from things like pudding or chocolate that are very sweet, but a banana is completely flavorless).
Has anyone had a similar problem? How long did it take for feeling and taste to return? I see my doctor tomorrow for my post-op appointment and I will definitely discuss this with him. It is very distressing to think that the feeling and taste may not return.
