Hey. Sounds like you have something similar to what I have been experiencing for the past month.
Basically, I don't feel any pain or loss of hearing (took a hearing test and I still have above average hearing) but I went to an ENT who told me I had Eustachian tube dysfunction. Though I may have it, I am skeptical if this is the cause of my tinnitus, since the ringing was prompted by a slap on the ear. I felt a "whoosh" of pressure and have had the ringing since then.
The ENT gave me steroid nasal sprays which he thought "should clear up the Eustachian tubes in a week or so" but of course it has not. He seemed to imply it would go away on its own eventually, but of course it is "unpredictable"
Since then, there was a brief period of time (maybe 3-4 days) of almost perfect clarity and I was sure it was going away, but then that evening it hit me pretty hard. It comes and goes, but never disappears 100% What I wouldn't give to experience total silence again, this is maddening when trying to sleep.
It is possible his misdiagnosed me, which is why I am seeing another specialist on Monday. I actually "hope" it is ETD because my understanding is that in most cases the tinnitus will go away if this is the cause. All we can do is hope. Let me know if there are any changes with you and I will do the same.
