Question Humming through one nostril

I just want to know if this is normal or not, but it seems when I hum with my mouth closed, the sound tends to be off-center, either to the left or to the right, although also sometimes centered. It's hard to describe. If I close my mouth and go "hmmmm" I can feel the sound vibrations coming only from the left nostril, or sometimes the right and they alternate frequently. If I open my mouth and go "ahhh" the sound is centered.

I hope that made some sense!

Is this normal? Is there any cause for alarm?
