Palatal Myoclonus (Ticking noise in ear)
Hi, I came across Health Boards when I was trying to find out more about Palatal Myoclonus on the net. I am wondering if anyone else is in the same or similar boat as me? About 12 months ago I started to get a really loud clicking noise that I could hear in my right ear. I had intense pressure on the right side of my head and neck and constant aching at the back of my ear. I was really off balance and dizzy at times. The clicking noise is really distracting and often over powers other noises around me. I am finding this all very stressful and depressing. This all started in August last year when I had a mild flu and had to fly home to Tasmania after my Pa passed away. My GP referred me to an ENT specialist who was amazing and took action as soon as I mentioned that my Husband could hear the ticking noise when it was quite. I had an endoscopy an MRI and a cat scan of my sinus, and the conclusion was that I had essential palatal myoclonus. I was told that PM is a rare condition, one that an answer can’t always be provided when the question of “what caused this to happen”, is asked. Because I am only at the start of my journey to conquer this condition I was wondering if anyone else can relate to my symptoms or has some words of wisdom?
