I just had splints removed yesterday which was one week post sinus surgery. I was a bit apprehensive that it would be painful but it really was the least painful of anything they've done so far. With mine, the doctor had to snip one stitch which was near the inner nostril on each side. Then he inserted an instrument and it slid out very easily. It was really more a relief of the pressure. But there will be a lot of gunk that comes out with the splint. I had it going down my throat and out my nose. It was a little nauseating but not painful. Good luck. Hope yours goes as well as mine.:
