I hear my own breathing and voice loud as if I am in a tunnel

Something is wrong with my inner ear, I think. When I breathe or speak, I hear the sounds inside my ears, very loud.

I don't know if that's clear or not. Does anyone know what this might be and how to remedy it?

Thanks!

From what I understand (and this is based on rather limited knowledge) it sounds like your Eustachian tube(s) are staying open. This will cause you to be able to hear your voice/breathing very loudly in your ears. If you have just had a cold or sinus infection I wouldn't worry too much, but if it lasts (and is doing it constantly) then I'd go see your doctor.

Re: I hear my own breathing and voice loud as if I am in a tunnel

Sounds like the same thing I'm suffering with. I think it's fluid in the middle ear. I've been to doctor after doctor, and they all tell me the same thing...it's caused by allergies. Well, I've taken every allergy medicine there is, antibiotics, nasal sprays and nothing seems to really help. It's like when somebody is talking to me, I hear fine. But when I'm talking, it's like I have my finger stuck in my ear, I can't hear myself talk out of my left ear. It is rather uncomfortable. I wish I can offer you some good advice. I have found that drinking lots of water on days when my ear is acting up seems to help some. Good luck.
