Re: Tonsillectomy~Day 14 relapse of pain
I know how you feel-when I had my tonsils out sometimes it felt like there was not end to the pain in sight, like I would not ever be able to eat normal food again without pain but that isn't true. It took me 4 weeks from my surgery to feel completely better, but I had my uvula removed as an "emergency" as the dr put it, due to swelling during the surgery so my recovery time was longer than normal I think, plus I was 18. I can't really give you a time frame because everyone is different in their healing process but I can tell you that you will feel better soon though, and you will eat normal food again!! I would call your ENT about this probably, you may need to get on some steroids if you aren't already to help the swelling go down, which should in turn help your fever go down as well as the pain. Try eating crushed ice, or chicken and stars soup-at a not so warm temp., the noodles are tiny stars that are easy to get down so at least you get some food in you. And I know it hurts to drink water even, but keep yourself hydrated, the last thing you need is to be dehydrated right now. good luck to you, hang in there!
