How long swollen uvula after tonsillectomy

Anyone know approx how many days it takes for a swollen uvula to go down some after tonsillectomy. Mine is huge, looks like a damn vienna sausage hanging down. It's probably 4-5 times it's normal size.

Re: How long swollen uvula after tonsillectomy

I think it probably varies for everyone, but if it's truly that much enlarged, I would say a couple of weeks at least. When I went in for my 2 week check-up, my doctor told me I still had a lot of inflammation (generally speaking, not necessarily the uvula), but I also had a relatively rough recovery. But if it's that big, I would say it's going to take a few weeks at least to return to normal size. But the process will likely be gradual, so you will probably feel a bit better each day or so. And. . . you might want to call your doctor if you think it's more swollen than it really ought to be. Sometimes they can give you medication to help reduce the swelling.
