My son has chronic sinusitis due to allergies. His nose is a mess and has been for the past ten years. He recently started complaining of upper jaw pain took him to the dentist today he had xrays done and a complete check up and all was okay. Dentist believes it has something to do with his sinuses, he is always congested but has no symptoms of a cold, no fever, no headaches.
What can this be?
fufu, I would take him to see an ENT doctor. It could be just some inflammation, but sometimes problems with your salivary glands can cause pain in the jaw. But you were right to initially take him to the dentist to rule out a dental problem
Thank you both for your replies.
After the dentist said it has nothing to do with the teeth i took him to the ent.
A couple of days before the appointment my son told me that he sometimes hears a clicking noise at that moment i knew that it was tmj, well yesterday was our appointment with the ent doc and my son does have tmj. The doctor did give him some tips on how to avoid making it worse and of course gave me a referral to an oral maxilofacial surgeon which i already have an appointment for. The doctor believes that it was caused by injury but my son doesn't recall getting injured and i know that he never had it before because i have done a panaromic xray on him.
I will wait and see what the specialist says.
