Hi I'm due to have this procedure done in a few weeks and was wondering if anyone else had had this done with successful results?
MY STORY SO FAR:
I got an ear infection when I was 13yrs old and after that the hearing in my left ear was affected. I went to the docs who ran a lot of hearing tests on both ears and said that my hearing was fine?!!
So feeling a bit embarrassed and stupid I just got on with it for the next 17 years! However 17 years later at the age of 30 enough was enough and back to the docs I went. The ENT consultant said that hearing tests nowadays are a lot better than they were 17yrs ago and confirmed I was deaf as a post in my left ear! They grafted me a new ear drum as well as an ossiculoplasty where they cemented one of my ear bones back into place.
They tested my hearing after that and said that my hearing was fine now (But it wasn't!!!) Sure I was imagining it all and feeling stupid again I carried on being deaf for another 4 years.
Here i am 4 years later at the age of 34, hearing in my left ear worse than ever and desperate to get it fixed I went back to the hospital again requesting a hearing aid or something!
They ran more tests and confirmed that the last op had failed but they are now going to do it again and give me a prosthetic bone and screw it into place. he convinced me that this surgery will work and it's better than having a hearing aid for the rest of my life.
So I'm here today to ask if anyone has had a revision Ossiculoplasty and did they get perfect hearing afterwards? Ive been deaf for so long in my left ear I have no idea what results to expect.
Thanks for reading!!
