Tonsil remnant + candida?

Hello!!!

I have a problem that started 2,5 years ago. It is diffcult to describe.

My tonsils were removed 13 years ago (Im a 42 yrs old woman), but on the right side a remnant remained. On the right side my sinus was also blocked, causing constant throat infections, nasal drip, cough, voice problems. I was operated the 2nd time for sinusitis last July and now the sinus is better (I can breath, but it is a bit swollen still, allergic probably).

So... for 2,5 years I have felt this lump in the back on my throat on the right side, it is driving my crazy. My submandibular lumph nodes are also swollen and painful when I touch my chin underneath, my right salivary gland is also slightly swollen and I experience ear fullness and small tinnitus on that side. Besides that, I have bitter taste in my mouth and the sensation that someone has poured acid in my throat... my voice is weak, I cannot sing any more. These sensations are sometimes worse, sometimes not so bad. I used to have tongue ulcers, really bad, especially on the right side, always on the same spot.

My thyroid is not completely healthy either, causing a "globus" sensation where men have their Adam´s apple - but it is a different sensation than the lump on the right side. Thyroid medication made the "globus" disappear, but now Im taking only jodine and still feel some "globus".

In short, I have visited countless ENTs who all say there is a tonsil remnant (or not even that) and that everything is FINE. But my throat is swollen and I have this lump and bitter/dry taste, especially at night.

A year ago I discovered that I have candida in my mouth and it has still not gone away... despite Diflucan (that was horrible) and Nystatin. It is better now, when I started cutting out sugar/sweets/white flour.

Has anyone experienced something similar? May Candida be the reason for my tonsil remnant infection? I use oregano/cocos oil (not regularly though) and I am on sugarfree diet (as much as I can).

I am really desperate because the lump is getting bigger and no doctor can help me. I have difficulty swallowing too.

PS I had gastroscopy and they detected no signs of serious GERD, although some acid surely comes up. I feel definitely worse when I eat late.

Re: Tonsil remnant + candida?

Just diagnosed myself and I think I found the cause.

I was so fed up with sore throat and foreign object sensation and swallowing difficulty on the right side of my throat that yesterday watching TV I just stuck my finger in my throat and touched the tonsil remnant... a surprise! There was a weird bone-like hard ligament inside it! I touched it several times... and after googling I found EAGLES syndrome

All the symptoms point that I have this rare processus. Basically a ligament grows in your throat and calcifies and causes all the troubles. The solution is surgery.

I feel so relieved because I was afraid of worse things...

Will see my ENT on 22 February and will ask for a 3d cat scan.

Sad that doctors cant help with such rare cases like mine... so I played dr House

Re: Tonsil remnant + candida?

Just diagnosed myself. I stuck fingers in my throat and touched the tonsil remnant and discovered that inside it was a hard bone or ligament. Thanks to google I now know that I have the so called Eagle syndrome. Will refer it to my ENT on 22 Feburary at my next visit and will ask a 3d Cat Scan. Im so relieved... I have lived 3 years with the symptoms and the throat never got better... so the reason is mechanical.

It s sad that many people are misdiagnosed for years and never find the reason of their troubles.
