Pulsing/ ticking sound in ears at night

Hi

I'm not sure if this is the correct section for this post, but thanks for taking the time to read and hopefully I get some helpful responses.

Nearly 1 month ago, I started experiencing a pulsing or ticking sound in my ears at night when I would lay on my pillow. It's a rhythmic sound which I think kind of sounds like it's in time with my pulse or heart beat. Very hard to explain.

I've hear it before over the year, but once I re-adjust myself on the pillow it goes away. Rarely even heard it. Now, I hear it every night. It's driving me crazy. Literally sounds like I am laying on a clock!

There are 2 reasons (or may be coincidences) I could think of that may have caused it..

1) I had a tragus piercing done about 8 months ago. It was always very swollen but never caused me any problems. 2 doctors told me it was infected and I tried two types of antibiotics. No change. My piecer told me there was no infection and use salt water on it. The swelling subsided. Then the sound in my ear started.

2) Before the sound in my ear started (maybe 2 weeks before), I had cold and flu symptoms. Didn't really have blocked/ runny nose or blocked ears like I normally get. Just lost my voice for a few days.

After going to my GP I was sent for a CT scan on the brain and mastoid. Results were fine. I was instructed to use a sinus spray to see if his would help the pulsing in my ears. I've been using it or nearly 3 days. No change. I'm starting to get worried this might be permanent. I have ever had an problems with my ears in the past. I don't even think Ive ever had an inner ear infection.

Any suggestions would e most helpful Thanks
