Recurring severe sore throat, swollen neck glands, and more...
I'm a 33 yo female and I have never had such a sore throat in my life, let alone multiple times!!!!
It all started back in December. I got a sore throat so bad I couldn't swallow my own saliva! The sore throat lasted a good week. The gland on the left side of my neck was sore and swollen and I also had a fever and body aches. My doctor did not run any tests on me, just called it an upper respiratory infraction and gave me a course of antibiotics :/. It all came back about 2 weeks later. Again she did not run any tests and just gave me a zpack this time. That seemed to help as it didn't come back...for a while. A month or two later I got the sore throat and swollen, sore gland but none of my symptoms were as severe as before. It went away on it's own a couple days later.
And now here I am once again with s bad sore throat. I can't swallow, my right gland is sore and swollen, I have a fever and body aches.
I should also mention that since around December I've had what I would call post nasal drip...there's always "something" running down the back of my throat. I've also had a lot of stuffiness in the left side of my nose. And for about a month I've been experiencing fatigue on a daily basis. I don't feel rested at all when I wake up.
I've also noticed that my tonsils appear to be very swollen, as I don't ever remember being able to see them this much before. They look lumpy and bumpy and take up about 1/2 to 3/4 of my open airway. And about 2 years ago I had issues with tonsil stones. I also have a whitish coating on my tongue but I attributed that to too many antibiotics lately.
I'm such a mess! Could all these problems I've been having be related to my tonsils??? I'm considering seeing an ENT as I've never been to one before. Can anyone offer some insight until I can see the specialist?
