Hi I came across this thread a few weeks ago and was relieved to see someone else had the same symptoms as me. I'll skip to the good part so you guys can all breath. 4weeks ago I was told by my doctor that I had E T D. I started getting worried when I heard an ocean like noise in my right ear that would not go. My doctor gave me a nasal spray and told me this would take two weeks to clear. I was so angry and annoyed because the noise was unbearable. I could hear it 24/7 and when there was quiet or wen I was trying to sleep the noise got even worse. Other symptoms for me was a pressure on the ear, clicking and popping noises and the feeling that something was in there. I did also have a Sharpe pain at the insert of my ear canal. My doc told me that I caught it from a cold, the problem was I'd not had a cold in a long while but my family had so maybe I was the carrier. The nasal spray was called beconase. I was told to take it twice a day but I doubled the dose. I also gave up smoking which I strongly believe helped. I read somewhere that smoking can put you more at risk of tinnitus. So anyway the doctor was right the ocean like noise has completely gone. I also stopped using earphones and made sure I used speaker phone when making calls I limited myself to watching tv and listening to the radio. If I did I would make sure the volume was down to a low level. I was careful when bathing not let the water into my ears and wen washing my hair I'd . Make sure little as possible water got into my ear. I popped my ears regularly by breathing into my nose and hold in it.I was careful not to do this in a way that would strain my ears to much. All in all I think that the quitting if the smoking helped a great deal. I am still using th he nasal spray even though the noise has cleared up. I plan to use the whole bottle. Don't get me wrong my hearing is still sensitive but that's normal it's not been that long. I hope I have helped in some way. Best of luck to you All. .

Hey, yes I do get that. Have you heard of TMJ? Its to do with the jaw surprisingly that's connected to the ears to. Normally your dentist will notice something because it's normally a clicking jaw. My dentist told me when it starts to bother me than she will investigate. It's to do with pressure put on the tube along the ear when we chew swallow eat..E t c. But I would say that's a part of the E T D Becos your tubes are blocked. Are you taking any medication?
I was checked for tmj and I'm clear on that end. I do have a slight jaw click which the specialist said was normal. The ear crunching sound I get is different than that though because it's coming for my ears and it's very time I swallow (even saliva). I'm currently on Dymista nasal spray (previously on Nasonex) and NeilMed sinus rinse. I also did a course of oral steroids, but no change
The crunching noise is the pressure in you're ear becos of blocked tubes. I get it sometimes it gives me a Sharpe pain down my ear. E T D can take a long time to clear up but the good thing to keep in mind is that eventually it will will go. Have you ever heard of residence?
