Ear Problems

For over a year now I've been having Ear pain, that goes down in the gland.. I have to have drops and take something for nerve damage to keep it from hurting, I don't have insurance yet and I don't know for sure if my dr is right he's guessing it's nerve damage because there is no infection, until I get insurance he is treating it as nerve damage, for a year now I've been in pain.. it's about to drive me so darn crazy. I also think I have Spasmodic Torticollis, my neck leans to the left and I'm always in pain with my neck, I'm not sure what is going on, but it's sure is bothering me bad, after a year it will tend to drive you crazy

Re: Ear Problems

TS,

You need to see a specialist, an ENT, but alas they are expensive.
Nerve damage is not the most likely cause.

When does Obamacare kick in for you?

Voxx976

Thanks for your reply. I don't know when it kicks in here, I'm in the middle of trying to get disability. Mine is at the Alj level, I've already went in front of a judge. I"m waiting to hear from it, I have a lot of problems and I filed in Dec of 2011.. I know I need Insurance in the worse kind of way ohhh and my Attorney told my husband that he feels Really Really good about me getting it so wed was a month since I went to court, so I'm hoping to hear something soon on it I know you have to wait two years to get Medicare but I don't know if the count the 5 months or what. I know for the first 5 Months on back pay you don't get anything after the 5 month mark you get. so I don't know if Medicare is the same way if it's not and I win my case I'll have it in Dec and if they take off the 5 months then I want get it until May or June

Re: Ear Problems

I don't think it is wise to wait months and months with ear pain. Why not call an ENT and lay out your problem and ask what he can do for you pricewise...and then just put it on a credit card.

Try for $100 and make sure everything is laid out up front so you don't get socked with a $1000 bill.

I think if you call several ENT's you might find one who is human.

Perhaps all you need is a course of cheap antibiotics. Sometimes the gods smile on us. Perhaps your GP can prescribe some antibiotics (most can be gotten for $5 at a large drug chain.) If they work they work, if not, you're no worse off.

But I know the risk of no insurance: I spent 2 days in the hospital last month...$222,000 bill, nearly all covered. Without insurance I'd be looking for a tall bridge.

Re: Ear Problems

Thanks. I don't have a credited card not because I can't get one. I just don't like them. But I appreciate it. My reg Dr put me on antibiotics
Twice. To make sure and it didn't get better. It gets really bad if my neck hurts real bad, He says its the nerves connected to the gland in my ear. The drops and the nerve pain med works. I just hate taken the nerve pain med. nasty side effects. I know I need to see a ent bad. I still waiting to hear something on my disability. I'm at a loss. I just don't know. Yesterday I went with my family grant it I don't get out much. Because my body hates me. Well the fair is here. And it was family night last night. I wasn't even there for 30 mins and my neck was feeling like it was about to come off my body, I was in tears by they time I got home. I can't even have a normal life without my neck feeling like someone is taken a hammer to it. I just wish I can get insurance
