Earache Constantly

Hi, I would like to know how difficult it is for an adult to have tubes put in their ear. I have been told that my next visit to my ear doctor will be to set up for this. I am a big chicken to have this done and if it doesn't stop all of the constant drainage pouring like a waterfall then it is a waste of time. Would anyone recomend this procedure? Has it stopped the pain/infections and drainage? Please be blunt because I really want to know what I am getting into I'm totally scared of this so tell me all the bad stuff! THANKS
