Unhappy When does exercise become obsessive?

Hey guys!

I have been trying to vomit less and eat more but I can only manage it if i do lots of exercise. I did two hrs yesterday and 3 hrs of exercise today on top of 5 n half hrs of uni work. Is this excessive??? I don't know anymore.

Also hope this isnt triggering but is this too much food: 3 low fat snack bars, 2 oranges, 2 crackers with low fat cottage cheese, 1 piece of garlic bread, a tiny bit of mince lamb, a fruit smoothie?????

Im so fed up. I want to eat coz im hungry but im too terrified of gaining weight or ending up binging and purging!!!

Plz help!

Thanks

Re: When does exercise become obsessive?

I am in a very similar situation to you at the moment, I would like to say I knew of some advice, but I don't.

Hang in there and stay strong.

Xxxx

When I was deep into the anorexia I was exercising for 4 hrs./day and hardly eating, plus when I would eat too much or the 'wrong' thing I would go back to the gym and purge through exercise. Looking back now, I see that what I was doing was really excessive. I would say your exercising is excessive. Be careful. I completely understand the whole not wanting to gain weight thing. At one time, I really wanted to have children, now I don't because I'm so obsessed with my body and the idea getting fat and not being able to lose it scares the hell out of me. I feel cheated by this disease, it's taken over my life in a big way.

Re: When does exercise become obsessive?

Yes--That is too much exercise. No one should spend more than 1and1/2 hours of exercise a day.You will burn out this way and end up increasing your appetite so much by putting so much demand on the body and set yourself up for a binge. Please slow down to no more than 45 mins of cardio and 30 mins of weights. This should be plenty with a diet that is balanced and around 1600-2000 calories a day.
