Hi everyone!

I have been reading the posts here for a couple of weeks and I really like the supportive atmosphere. I have been bulimic for about 4 years but have been obsessed with food and weight almost my whole life. I just recently started seeing a counselor and she has me doing a 12-step program. She also referred me to a doctor who put me on Zoloft for binging and depression. Is there anyone else here who has ever been on Zoloft for bulimia?

I was put on a series of medications to help with my ED. Zoloft was just one of 3 that I took on a daily basis for a long time, that with therapy I am where I am today. I don't act out in my ED but the thoughts do remain. Some days are better than others. Good luck. Like I said with therapy and meds I've been ED free for a few years now.

Welcome Manno. I don't know much about Zoloft, they usually put bulimics on Prozac but I was allergic to it this time and they switched me to Lexapro. Even with the change, it dampens the urge to binge enough to let my willpower overcome it. I am much less obsessed with food. It's still a struggle but now I am winning, not losing.

Hi tallycat

Thank you for your reply. I was on Prozac for about 6 weeks but it gave me a terrible twitch in my eye. My doctor said I probably could not handle a higher dose. I stopped going to him because all he wanted to do was prescribe me medicine and it seemed like he could not wait for me to stop talking. I feel like in order to overcome this eating disorder I need to talk to someone about where this is all coming from. I don't think I can beat this thing with medicine alone.

Thank you for your reply GloBones. It is so encouraging to hear that people do finally get to a point where they are back in control of their lives. I can not wait for the day when 5 seconds passes and I don't think about food or my weight.
