Unhappy Getting Fat.

Ahhh!
Yesterday I had 150 calories and no grams of fat and now this morning I'm 5 lbs. heavier. How could this happen. That was not a good start to my day. It really bummed me out.
So does anyone have any idea how this could happen?
Help!

My guess would be water retention. I know I can gain as much as eight pounds overnight at certain times of the month. It definitely is NOT from what you ate. Do you weigh yourself everyday? I know it's a hard habit to break but it is a step in the right direction. I used to weigh myself two or three times a day but now I try for once a week. If I feel fat, I totally avoid the scale because I know what I am going to see is not going to make me feel better. Watching your weight fluctuate, which is completely normal, will only lead you to more bummer days like today when you experience a slight gain. I bet if you give it a couple days and weigh yourself again, you'll be right back to where you started or less based on the few calories you are consuming. Take care.

Hi.

Please DO NOT go on a fat free diet. You NEED to eat a little bit of fat at least. There has been many cases of people who went on those diets and were fine, until they started to eat fat again. They had to get emergency gallbladder sugery to have it removed. For some reason when you stop eating fat for awhile and then start up again, it wrecks you gallbladder. DO NOT TRY THIS! I know someone who this happened to!

Oh my god! do not DO NOT weigh yourself every day. Trust me, it will only depress you and not help things. If you did not eat, then it may be water retention or your metabolism slowing down as your body hangs on to everything you give it like a life line (ironically, I suppose it is)

Anyway, I know it may be a hard habit to give up, but try to stop weighing every day.

Good luck!

Houston we have a problem!

150 calories a day would starve a cat!

When your brain gets the message that you have reduced calorie intake (and nutrients) to this level, your brain starts to gear up for starvation mode. It really doesn't matter how much you weigh or how you look. Your brain thinks,"No food comming in, start the rationing on the inside."

Your body's reaction is to conserve what it has. Your metabolism slows, you burn less calories, your body starts to get it's nutrients from the inside, when it needs protein, if it can't find it in the amounts it needs from what you eat, it takes it from the muscles. Like the heart the legs the arms etc. When it can't get the minerals and vitamins, like calcium, it takes it from your bones making them smaller and weaker. And on and on.

Eating a balanced diet is important to maintain a healthy body. The trick to holding your weight is to burn more calories than you consume. A big muscle will burn more calories than a small muscle, a toned muscle will even burn calories when it is a rest, while you sleep. You have to eat a balanced diet to keep your metablism working at it's peak, then, you will see the benefits of modifying your diet to get the look you want, by controlling the type of nutrients you give your body.

Your body is like a fruit tree. Give it all the nutrients, in the appropriate balance and you will have a healthy tree that will give you fruit for many years to come. Starve it and all you will have is a sickly tree that will not bear fruit.

The secret lies in what you put in, not how much.
