Hiya
First, it's good to know I'm not the only newcomer! Thanks!
Sounds to me like you to have an eating problem. You don't say if you take anything to get rid of food or make yourself sick. If you don't, then you are in a stronger position to get out of the ed hell before it gets worse.
I,too, am just 5ft and weigh 91 lbs. I, too, sometimes feel fat & disgusting BUT my friends tell me I'm thin. Logically I know I can't be fat - a UK size 6 is too big (not sure where u r from). Difference between us is age, I'm 33 and have had an ed for 9 years. PLEASE DON'T GET LIKE ME.
You say that some days you eat lots and some days you eat hardly anything. First golden rule to stop these highs and lows is to eat 3 meals a day with a snack in between. Scary I know but by regulating your eating there is less chance that you will overeat and go overboard. 3 meals a day is healthy. They don't have to be highly calorific or laden with fat. Just sensible healthy food. Until you get used to it, just pick foods that you are safe with - that aren't going to make you feel bad.
Believe me, eating 3 meals a day will make you feel better. When I'm in control and on a roll I do feel thin. It's only when I binge that I feel fat afterwards (mostly the guilt makes me feel this way) but my cutting back after binging it makes it worse. All that does is pre-empt the next binge.
Golden rules to getting better and leading a healthier life:
Always eat 3 meals a day with a snack in between.
If you overeat/binge never skip the next meal. After bingeing, who feels like eating a meal? Right! But by starving yourself you're just securing the next overeating session. Your body needs food/fuel to survive. So the lack of nutrition will trigger the next overeating session, which will make you feel bad/fat, so you starve yourself more and hey, it all happens again.
It may help to make a meal plan each day. Decide what you are going to eat for your 3 meals that day and stick to it. It will stop the highs and lows. You will actually feel thinner (than you would with an erratic eating pattern), healthier and in control. I promise you, it works.
As for drink, don't deprive yourself if you enjoy it but never drink alone. Go out, limit yourself to 2 or 3. Red wine is a good choice! or maybe something with a low-cal mixer if it makes you feel better. Why deprive yourself of something you enjoy?
Be kind to yourself. Look after your body - it's the only one you have and it needs to stay healthy to help see you through the rest of your life.
Take good care,
Hazel
